The Beanie baby phenomenon was one of the biggest cultural trends of the past decade. gaining popularity in the late 1990s and exploding worldwide with the millennium, TY's Beanie babies were all the rage for fans of all ages.A huge collector's market grew around the cute stuffed toys, with speculators snapping up the rarest of Beanies in order to sell them on again to diehard collectors who wanted to complete their collection.
But, aside from being highly collectible (provided you kept their tags on), they were also a beautiful toy for young collectors to enjoy. With a wide range of animals to choose from, as well as the oversized beanie Buddies and a plethora of other TY items too.
Some Beanies would change hands for huge amounts of money such as Britannia, which was highly collectible in every format that the gorgeous little bear came out in.
It is only now, after the TY Beanie babies craze has died down, that we can look back at a toy line that defines a portion of history alongside Pokemon and similar items that are very much of their time. TY Beanie babies can still be appreciated and collected to this day, with a new range of Beanies under the name 'Beanie babies 2.0' and other great TY items now available too, including greats like TY Girls.
A wonderfully engrossing piece of the collector's and toy market, Beanies are here to stay, and on this blog we'll be covering the classics and the new hits!
